Questions and Ideas

Do whatever you want to. Yes, we’re being serious. This is all about your character and should reflect you as well. Make it interesting, make it look good, and don’t forget to include your buy links if they are from a published work, think candy at the checkout…

 

IMAGE ideas:

  • Your character (stock image databases are good for this and so is flickr.com Creative Commons)
  • A nice head shot of you!
  • A quote
  • Images that inspire your story

 

These are standard questions that will cover all the bases:

  1.  What is the name of your character? Is he/she fictional or historical person?
  2.  When and where is the story set?
  3. What should we know about him/her?
  4. What is the main conflict? What messes up his/her life?
  5. What is the personal goal of the character?
  6. What is the title and where can we find out more? OR Is there a working title for this novel and can we read more about it?
  7. Where can we buy it? OR When and where can we expect the book to be published?

These are other non-standard questions that don’t really cover the bases, but are fun:

  1. What’s the most blatant lie they’ve ever told?
  2. Do they push the elevator button more than once? Does it really make it go faster?
  3. If they were/are the ruler of the world, what laws would they make?
  4. Sunrises or Sunsets?
  5. Would you break a law to save a loved one?
  6. Are they the good or bad guy/girl/vampire, dragon, robot, etc.
  7. Would they rather be trampled by one elephant sized mouse or one hundred mice sized elephants?
  8. What was their favorite subject at school?
  9. If they could learn one random skill, what would they learn?
  10. What was their favorite cartoon growing up?
  11. Do they watch horror movies on or from behind the couch?
  12. What sort of Starbucks coffee would your characters order? Simple coffee, complicated soy-non-fat-extra-espresso-half-caff-etc. etc. etc.?
  13. Have they ever been cow tipping, T-peeing, garden gnome stealing?
  14. If they had to give up one sense which one would you give up and why?
  15. What is the strangest thing they’ve believed since they were a child?
  16. Is anything about them based on real life experiences or is it all imagination?
